Bray Labs

Bray Labs is part of the Tufts University Department of Mechanical Engineering. The building is comprised of research labs, staff and graduate student offices, and a neighborhood of design, build, and testing spaces. To see more, please visit the Bray Site. As a Graduate Fabrication Assistant in the space, I serve as a consultant for projects, develop and implement training procedures, and carry out a number of other internal projects.

Design and Fabrication Consultant

As a Graduate Fabrication Assistant, I often consult with students, both undergrad and graduate, and faculty on their projects and research. Often we’ll walk through their design process, and I will suggest areas for improvement related to design, materials, and fabrication techniques. In some cases, I will also fabricate the submitted jobs.

Training

Bray Lab offers a variety of trainings to the Tufts Community. I have created the Green Zone training which introduces students to the laser cutter and hand tools. It is the most popular offering by Bray with over 500 students having been trained. I am currently developing the training procedures for the CNC mill (Haas Mini-Mill).

Additional Bray Projects

In addition to trainings and consulting work at Bray, I’ve worked on number of internal projects for Bray. These projects ranges from creating example projects to showcase various technologies to making changes to and updating machinery
